CEL 20 Electrical Load Detector: 1993 Del Sol Si MT
I shifted at the redline and the revlimiter cut off the engine. When that happened my stereo cut off and then the CEL came on. I checked the CEL code and it is code 20...Electrical Load Detector.
None of my fuses are blown and my headlights, tail lights, dash lights, and stereo all have power. The engine is operating normally and I can drive the car without issue. However, the CEL is still on after I attempted to reset the ECU by removing the battery and the backup fuse for 30 minutes. After that the CEL 20 came right back on. I attempted to check every electrical connector in the engine bay and didn't find any shorted lines or disconnected connectors.
I am at a loss for what to do. My 1993 Del Sol Si has been working flawlessly until now with the exception of the stereo cutting off sound to the speakers on occasion when I'm driving. That has been happening for at least 3 months but the car runs perfectly fine.
I am told the ELD may be at fault and the only solution is to replace the entire fuse box under the hood. Can anyone verify this for me? Do I need to replace the fuse box? Will this solve my problems? Is there any way that I can troubleshoot this issue to make 100% certain that my ELD is at fault?
Any help is appreciated.
I did search all over the web and on Honda-Tech...mostly people complain about this problem but no one ever says how to troubleshoot it or to fix it.
Thanks.
