Default CD Player

Alright guys, new to the forum and trust me, I've searched. But, I was wondering, I have a 99 Si with a standard tape deck. If I were to take a stock CD player out of another 99 Civic, would it be a straight plug and play or would I have to rewire it? Thanks guys

well, are you planning to put an aftermarket cd player in, like alpine, pioneer, kenwood, etc. or the same stock si cd player, but a different one? If you plan on doing that, yeah it will be straight plug and play.. but dont forget, stock si cd players require a code, so you will need that to turn it on once it is disconnected.. if you dont know the code, go to a local honda dealer and they can use the serial number and look it up for you from the cd player.. you will prolly need some proper registration and valid ID as well...

oh, and welcome to h-t! cheers!

No, I'm not doing a aftermarket CD player. I want to keep all the interior as stock looking as possible. Plus, I love the way it lights up all red. But, I have a guy with a 99 Civic SI and his came with a CD player stock. My 99 SI came with a tape player stock. So, I was asking can you take a stock CD player from one SI and use it on the SI that came with the tape deck and not have to rewire everything
