ok. so im sellin my Si wheels for $400 and posted an ad online. this guy Richard e-mails me back and wants to pick them up right away. so he comes over in his red 91 CRX with his big friend and he takes a look at them and wants to bargin to $350. i said i can do $375. he hesitated and says "ok, but do you have change for 4 bills?" so i get change for him and he hurried along back with my wheels with his friend. i go inside and check the bills and i find that one of them is a fake! the guy ran off with my wheels for $275. i call him on his cell phone immediately (he was surprised cause he forgot he gave me his # in his e-mail) and i told him i got a bogus bill from him. he says "oh really?" then tells me his tired and how he's almost back to his house and its a long day, can he call me back tomorrow?... mumbles something then all of a sudden phone cuts off. i call him back again, and his phone was off!! MF! so i left a msg warning him that i know his license plate number and will report him.
he calls me back 1/2hr later from his house asking me how i know the bill was fake. and how he got it from his "friend" who got it from the "bank" and how he has nothing to do with it.... then he changes his story to say "how do i know if you switched it or not?" he's accusing me of switching the bills?!! wtf?!! why would i go thru all this trouble?! beside he knows where i live. why is he switching the story??!i told him i'll go to the authorities to see what they think. then he gone did it! HE THREATENS ME! he says "i dont wnat any trouble.. AND IM SURE U DONT EITHER..." whats that suppose to mean?? i take that as a threat.
so i say ok fine if thats the way u want it.
i call up the police and told them my story. they sent a cruiser down to my house right away and filed a report for distributing counterfiet bills. (federal offense) the policewoman calls his *** up got down all his info and told me to go to the bank and verify it he fake bill first thing in the morning. so thats what im gonna do! i am sick and tired of being ripped off! from now on im just gonna call the police however minor it may seem. call me a snitch, but it works!

Hey just for future reference go to Staples or one of those places and get a money marker. You can write on the bills and it will tell you if its fake or not. I got one when I was selling my last Integra to test $7500 in cash........it only cost $3.50 wise investment.....good luck with your story

I never meet people at my house. It's always safer to meet at a more public place, like a mall parking lot. That way if stuff goes down they won't know where you live and people are a little more less prone to jacking you in public. I'm not saying it won't happen, but better safe than sorry.

ya i know. i should have conducted business else where. it was like just the spur of the moment. he called me and said he wanted it and that he'll be over in 15mins. i'll know better next time. i'll get that money pen and swipe it infront of future buys. it'll look like im paranoid, but gotta take every possible precautions. lotsa scandolous people these days.
dont worry. the popo got all his info. i doubt he'll do something stupid. he hasn't seen what car i drive. my complex is kind of confusing aswell. either way i aint scared of him. it'll be him thats breaking the law not me.

BTW hehe. i know i left his e-mail out. dont write hate mails or anything, let the police handle it.

*Update: the bill was fake. i let the authorities know. they said i have two choices: he is willing to compensate for the fake bill. i can ether settle it privately with him with a signed documented recipt infront of the police officer, or i can press charges and go to county court and dispute it in front of the judge. i think i'll just settle this with him with the officer instaed of going thru all that trouble with court dates and ****. i doubt he'll pull this crap again.

well, actually i wasn't sure if it was fake or not. it looked fake. there was no magnetic strip, no shadow imprint, and the print was kinda off on one side. the paper felt kinda smooth. i couldn't tell cause it was at night. but when i got in my house i notice it was fishy. it was just a hunch. so i called him up to ask him. i mean.. he couldn't have gotten like a mile away when i called him. and he started giving me excuses. and then he cuts off the phone. thats when i really got suspicious. after he calls me back 1/2 hr later, it didn't seem like he wanted to settle the dilemma. he accused me of switching the bills. so at that point i had no choice but the let the police know the situation. i dont know.. perhpas i over reacted, but i think under the circumstances it was right for me to call the police and let them know whats going on, since he dosen't want to settle this dispute. i dont see anyway around it. i accuse him of giving me counterfiet money, and he accuse me of switching the bill to try and ripp him off instead.

haha, i think they're going to be more worried about what the fed's will do when they cant prove they got it from the bank. afterall, banks have videotapes of each customer and i think they check for fake's too . i'd say he's in big freakin trouble.

dont handle the fake bill anymore, put it in a zip lock or something.

his prints are probably on it, so you dont want to cover or smudge them with yours.
