is your smog due any time soon? if not i wouldnt worry to much about it, squeeze those horses outta that 1.6 liter!!

otherwise, whats your budget? you could go to a auto parts store but its gonna be a pretty penny, a junk yard has no gaurentee that the cat is still good...

just get an OEM (less hassle for inspection) from autzone or somewhere similar. And depending on your car Honda has a extended warranty on the cat from certain years I believe but I may be wrong. If your car is under the warranty they will replace everything free of charge.

i work at a exhaust/tire shop in SC and you should be able to get a 12/14" after market cat for 80-100 but that could vary for your location

oem= ~$500 and only come 2" in diameter.

magnaflow= ~$100 and available in many sizes.

just get a magnaflow 94100 series and get an 02 bung welded on the piping after the cat.

im curious, are you getting any CELs? and what kind of header and exhaust are you using?

an OEM Honda cat will rape you up the butt in terms of price for a new one (from the stealership that is).

the list price on an ITR cat goes for $1616.33CAD. it's tough to beat an OEM cat unless it's totally dead. highflow cats don't seem to last as long, but they're cheaper.

do you plan on getting another header that has a larger collector than 2"? if so then buy a cat that is the same diameter as the header collector that you plan on getting. otherwise just a magnaflow 94104 which is 2" diameter in/out and get the 02 bung welded on after the cat.
http://www.amazon.com/Magnaflo...r=8-1

personally, im using magnaflow 94106 cat (2.5" diameter in/out) connected to my jdm itr header.

If i got an aftermarket header it would be the dc sports 4-1 ceramic which i think has a 2" collector. so i would be fine in that respect. new catback will be ws2

The first one you posted is just a straight pipe that does nothing to reduce emmissions. The 2nd one is what you want.

Wow a responsible honda-tech member .

I dont like excessive pollution either.

Try finding a used OEM one from someone. Make sure it's OBD2.

Or get a QUALITY highflow one. I heard SMSP makes a nice one that wont set off your CEL.

A lot of high flows will set off a CEL on a LEV like a civic.

ebay sells testpipes advertised as "high flow cats". Whoever sells them should be imprisoned.

The easiest way is to find a used OEM one. Junkyards wont sell them to you. Try finding one on ebay or the marketplace on here.

GOOD LUCK! glad you're taking the initiative.

so will the more expensive obx cat cause me to throw a CEL? Probably would be no gains over stock i'm guessing

high flow cats have relatively low or no gains over stock for a close to stock application. They're more helpful if your car is very modded.

Look to gain between 1-2hp with a highflow cat or testpipe if you deviate from stock for a stock car or a car with just bolt ons.
