catalytic converter is HOLLOW upon inspection!?
First of all, I have a aftermarket 2 1/4 in exhaust on my 98 dx. I bought a cat to use on it and had it installed and bam, wonderful exhaust. I think the brand of the cat was, well I forgot, but its a name brand. Well, lately my exhaust has been making noises from hell so I replaced the muffler. Noise still there, no holes in exhaust. Took off the cat-back where it meets the header and to everybodys surprise, the cat is HOLLOW!? What the? Could the bits and peices from the cat be making noises in my exhaust making it sound like complete crap and embarrassing me? https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif
This ever happen to anybody else? edit: spelling catalytic owns me! |

Re: (B16Drag)
ha ha, ok monkey laughs. Seriously, you all think its the cat stuck in the crush bends somewhere. I beat on the exhaust and there is no rattle. So that thing must be lodged up in there good not to rattle right?
|
might be worth it to just take it off and see if ther eare pieces anywhere... regardless you might need a new cat or a testpipe
|
Re: (B16Drag)
well the cat is pretty much a test pipe now! But the guy at the tuner place said i might want to use a test pipe to keep the diameter the same so not to slow down the flow. I guess. I think its more important that I get a mandrel bent exhaust first. Crush bent right now. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif
