Catalytic converter help
Anything I should know about replacing the catalytic converter on a '97 HX? Looks pretty straight forward (i.e. unbolt, remove, rebolt), but I've never done this before so any help would be appreciated. I downloaded the service manual from streetlegalhonda.com, but can't find a section on this and have searched this forum with no results. Would love to find the info in the manual if anyone knows where it is.

Re: Catalytic converter help (civictildeath)
The HX has the same (really crappy) design as some of the other lower models. The CAT is all one piece with the exhaust manifold. I've read that the upstream O2 sensor is nearly impossible to get out of these due to the heat they take because of their position (basically hit by the exhaust the instant it leaves the engine).

Anybody? No advice here? Anyone with experience on getting the sensors out? Is what I've heard true about it being next to impossible without tearing them up?

Re: (kb7709)
I have a 99 Cx hatch - D16Y7. I've got 230k miles and have changed the O2 sensor 3 times now. I've yet to tear/crack/damage anything.
So yes, unbolt and rebolt.
