carsound cat for 98 civic dx
 

sorry to bother u guys, but i spent about an hour and a half searching through the archives and couldnt find what i needed.

my friend's car is throwing a cel 67 in his auto 98 civic dx. bad cat. he was looking to get a new cat, but dealer is $800. i suggested a carsound cat like what i got. does anyone know what model number i need to get. i know there is a 94000 series and and a 94100 series, which is a bit shorter than the 9400 series.
i need to get the one with an o2 hole i know.

anything else? and would getting this pass smog, i know obdII is harder than obdI

your friends exhaust manifold and cat are one piece. so if you wanted to go aftermarket you would have to buy a header and cat and then extend both o2 sensors. but if your friends car has under 80k on it the cat should be under factory warranty b/c the emmission sys is covered for 80k. hope that helps

o hmm, i didnt kno they still made the cat and header a one piece unit. ill check it out at work for him tomorrow. but if thats the case, i can sense he will have to spend quite a lot of dough..

You can just buy the exhaust manifold/header,b-pipe etc for an Ex and replace it all. Probably be cheaper than trying to replace that cat. Hell, you could get an ebay header that has the o2 bung right on top and then get a carsound cat that would bolt up to that and the whatever cat back exhaust you wanted past that point.
