Default Carbon fiber trunk question.

I'm going to buy a CF trunk for my EG coupe here soon. I've been looking at pictures of different brands of trunks.. On your OEM trunk, you have that peice that goes on the back of your trunk for your license plate. Do most CF trunks come with these? Or do you need to use that existing non CF peice?

I only searched one company's site for what you're asking, and it appears that you will need the piece for that particular part.

Hmmm.. Are CF peices made for these applications?

I wouldn't even know how to begin searching for that... I'd imagine there's gotta be something out there for it.

Yeah, it's a Honda. It has to exist. I remember seeing one a long time ago on an EK. It was an OEM trunk with that peice as CF.

I googled some sites and found two things.

1. The same issue with the original trunk that was displayed and the same issue you're having, none of the trunks had the license plate piece in CF.

2. There were some trunks that were fully CF and had no place for a license plate frame, then again they had no places for tail lights either.

So no luck on my part, hope that helps. Peace.

If you can't find it you can probably pull it off with a sticker.

I dunno what keywords to google search with... I tried CF license plate inserts... but all I got was license plates and other CF products.

No, I'm not going for the whole 'CF' look. I think it's rediculous that that peice ISN'T included. This negativley affects me in two ways:

1. It looks retarded. Why should I have to spend money on paint, when I shouldn't have too?
2. Weight.

I have a cf trunk on my 97 coupe, Its made by VIS racing and it came with that piece that your talking about, another thing u might want to look out for is some of them do and do not have the key hole to open the trunk, mine has it but I wish it did not cause it looks alot cleaner to me without it...

I think you should call VIS directly and ask them. Ask to talk to Sonny, he's really cool.

I have an EG, so the key hole isn't on the trunk. So, it looks like VIS includes that peice with their trunks. Anyone else?

Have you seen these guys in the A&C marketplace?
They don't have your specific piece shown in this thread, but they seem to make alot of strange parts in cf, similar to that trunk piece you're looking for. They may carry it or be able to make one for you... I don't know maybe it's a start.
