Carbon Fiber Hood
I know this should probably be in the cosmetic forum, but it is for a 98 Civic.
I am thinking about buying a Versus Carbon Fiber Hood. Are they any good? The shop that I am buying it from is a good shop, but he doesn't make the hoods, he special orders them from Versus.
I just want to know what you think of Versus C/F hoods. Is it worth it to get the hood. Its gonna cost me $620 shipped. That does seem like a lot, but it cost a grip to send **** to Alaska.
Thanks

Re: Carbon Fiber Hood (98akcivic)
that is way too much money...wait for a used one....I bought a used FI cf hood for $375 or so shipped. And FI is one of the better brands (Benen being the best). Just be paitent and save $200-$300.

Re: Carbon Fiber Hood (polyphony_digital)
the hood i am buying is brand new.
plus you gotta figure the cost to send stuff to alaska, it isn't cheap to send something that big.

dont go with vis I have one, if you havbe time get fiber images, VIS has ok quality and OK weight If you really want a good hood go with hammer head avaiation, they are absolutley awsome.!!!!!!!
VIS is overpriced I got mine for 4 bills but i picked it up @ NOPI

Re: Carbon Fiber Hood (madhatch)
Seems like CF hoods are sort of hit and miss. I have seen VIS hoods that were absolutley beutiful. Then seen them with huge flaws in the weave. Same goes for FI hoods.

Re: Carbon Fiber Hood (EKhatch)
I agree. Same thing with FiberImages. Actually all the FI hoods I've seen don't fit very well but everyone on the forums say they do. My VIS cf hood fit very well and I had no problems with it. I would buy a used cf hood over a new one because first there is not much wear and tear on a hood (unless it has rock chips or something like that) but if the seller says it's in good condition with no flaws, it's just as good as a new one. Secondly, you don't know how a new hood fits (unless it was "pre-fitted" but I don't know any companies who do that). A used hood, you can ask to see pictures or ask the seller if he had any problems with fitment. Also used is a lot cheaper. I'd get a used over a new one anyday!

Re: Carbon Fiber Hood (JSPEC)
True, I would try and buy from a dealer to see the weave, turn it away if you are not happy, no matter how bad, make sure there is no restoking fee. My friend drove all the way (3 hrs) to nopi and went through 3 VIS hoods until he was happy.
Be picky it pays.
Contact hammer head, see what you think. I think they are the best.
