CARB CLEANER IN IM = BAD
i cleaned the TB and Intake Manifold w/CARB Cleaner last night. And my motor barely could keep a steady idle and the engine died everytime i was at a stop. Whats up with that? This ever happen to anyone? My friend did the samething and his motor tweaked like that too. The thing is i didnt soak the IM, i sprayed into the IM then stuck a cloth into the IM to wipe it off.

You probably sprayed too much in there which is the reason why.
Carb cleaner can be used to start the motors as well, and you probably sprayed way too much.

Re: CARB CLEANER IN IM = BAD (B_Cruz)
did you rev the engine at all to get it worked through the system? quite possible that it wasn't completely cleaned out. Personally I wouldn't have wiped the excess up with a towel either... chances of getting lint or whatever else in the IM (don't know if that would hurt, but I personally would try to avoid it)
I just used it in mine the other day, and it runs a lot smoother now

Re: CARB CLEANER IN IM = BAD (CNY Hatch)
its running better today but the idle is a lil jumpy, so all you did was spray the IM down. The canister says to do it while the engine is on, do i have to do that? I just did it while the engine was off

yes you are supposed to do it while the engine is on or trying to start. Not while it's off. It will flood.

I do it while it's running... that way you can rev the engine with your other hand on the throttle control and clean it out. Sounds like your car is a little flooded if you tried it while it was off.

You did it totally wrong. Your plugs are probably fouled up. The car must be on and you should spray it into the IM while you are pressing the throttle(either gas pedal or throttle cable). The Carb Cleaner will get sucked and sometimes smoke will come out of your exhaust. I normally change to new plugs AFTER I spray the carb cleaner. I heard it fouls the plugs if you spray too much.
