Car wont start, HAS fuel HAS spark
Hey, im still having trouble with this b18b swap in a 95 ex. the motor ran 100% and the d16 in the car ran 100% before swap. Ive tried 3 distributors, new ICM, changed Water pump and timing belt, timing is dead on. I have done plenty of b swaps, ive been stumped to all hell on this.
The car gets spark on the coil and all 4 plug wires.
It is getting fuel and also checked for fuel at the rail and it sprays when the pump comes on.
Ive tried 3 ECUs that were running.
2x PR4s
and 1 chipped p06 from xenocron
1 note, the car made a LOUD backfire, like shotgun next to your face loud, but even after that, nothing. sometimes while cranking the car will studder out.
I have checked all my body and battery grounds also.
Checked all the fuses under the hood and in the car.
I am at a loss.
Any suggestions?

Re: Car wont start, HAS fuel HAS spark
have you checked both distributor and cam timing?
If you have fuel and spark and your sure there is no holes in your pistons or your valves arn't bent to ****,its got to be a timing issue.
The backfire is classic of timing being off.

you need 4 things for the car to run.
fuel, air, correct spark timing (and firing order), and compression.
you said you have fuel, so if all the clips are on their correct injector, thats not it.
as long as there isnt a rag stuck in the intake tract, you are probably getting air.
you said the engine ran before so i am going to make the assumption that there is in fact compression.
which brings to correct spark. you need the correct ign timing, and need to make sure the plug wires are on the correct spot on the cap. with it back firing, id check firing order.
this mistake is very easy to overlook.
start with the easy stuff.
if you shotgunned all those parts on there and didnt fix it, chances are it isnt any of the parts you changed.

Re: Car wont start, HAS fuel HAS spark
Going to head out to the car today to work on it. Im really at a loss. The few things i noticed, but shouldnt matter, are:
OBD2 LS injectors w/OBD2 clips on them
The distributor that worked on it before has d16 internals with the obd2 plug correctly on it
there are 2 wires clipped that are RIGHT at the crank pully that look to go into the engine.
I think today if nothing is working, im gonna swap in a new engine harness and some obd1 injectors. thats the LAST things i can think of.
Any other suggestions would be great.
Thanks for the replies
