Went out to my car the other day, and it wouldn't start up. The engine cranks, but will not start up.

I figured it might be a distributor problem, so I took the Ignition Coil out of my 92 Civic and put it in to the 94 that isn't wanting to start, with no luck. It seems to have a strong spark. I didn't get a chance to change the module though, if I have good spark, will a bad module keep it from firing?

My dad also tried spraying starter fluid into the air intake, thinking fuel pump or fuel filter might be bad. Still not luck.

Where else should I look into. The weird thing is that this kinda came out of no where, no initial problems or few bad starts, or poor performance leading up to the no start.

No new CEL, I had an O2 Sensor code earlier, but no new ones since the car won't start.
Have not checked fuel pressure and compression yet.

How does a car act, when the main relay goes out?

It won't start if the main relay is bad, but i would check the basics. Fuel, spark, compression. Then you can go into more detailed things like cam timing, ignition timing, injector pluse, injector power etc.

That is an awesome link for the main relay, I needed that back when my 92 Civic had one going out. I assumed they only went out when it was hot humid out, it is freezing here in Kansas City right now.

i know this has nothing to do with this thread but im a new user and its the closest thing to transmissions on the forums but i had a quick question will a 00 civic ex transmission fit on a d16z6

The problem ended up being the ignition coil, didn't know because the engine was flooded. A quick hold down of the gas petal during startup killed the injectors, and let the car startup.
