Car wont rev past 5500
I have a 1998 Honda Civic d16y8 out of a 99. Runs and drives good but when i do pulls it wont go past 5500 rpms. I do throw codes on my ecu because its an auto ecu and wiring harness. I will post codes tomorrow after i get them ran. I am trying to fix this so any suggestions would be helpful and good.

Re: Car wont rev past 5500
Obviously, there will be codes related to the automatic transmission which is not there.
If the CEL is on for any code, the ECU runs in "limp mode" which includes a rev limit. You need a manual EX ECU which also means you need to convert to 2-wire IACV.

So if i have a 99 obd2b ecu could i buy the jumper for it? How do i wire in vtec to my lx auto harness and the iacv conversion? Im not very smart at wiring at all.

I am not taking it to anyone. I would rather learn myself. I am getting a manual engine harness with vtec. I have a 99 ecu. I am buying the jumper from obd2a to obd2b so they work together. If that doesnt work then i will reply again

Again, you will need to put on a manual EX intake manifold and throttle body so you have a 2-wire IACV. It would be simpler to use entirely OBDIIa parts.
