Car wont rev past 3000rpm and feels like a studder box!
Can anyone on here please help me. My motor blew out about 5 months ago. I just got a D15b2 and swapped it in. This is a 1992 civic hb. I used my previous turbo setup from my last y7 motor. I finished everything. I been running a SAFC2 and was using that now till i can get something else. The car starts up fine but idles at like 2500-3000RPM. I hit the gas pedal and the rev wont go past the 3000rpm mark. It feels like there is a studder box, it just bounces off the 3000rpm mark and will not go higher. Anyone help me out please?

What would cause the limp mode? I will have to check in the morning.. I mean i started the car and it ran but had leak on the oil feed line so i just put in the new oil feed line and started it. It starts it just wont rev past 3000rpm for some reason.

Re: (Hanmin)
you know the sensor that sits on top of the transmission.. my wire to the plug broke, so i need a new plug, Could that make the ecu go into limp mode and make it not rev over 3k? What is that sensor? its on top next to the breather I cant think of the name.. and about 3 yrs ago i swapped my auto civic i bought to manual and i just left the auto ecu in there so i have a check engine light all the time, but it was running fine for me untill i blew my last motor and i just put this new motor in so i dont know what could have put it in limp mode if thats it.

Re: (Hanmin)
this may sound stupid, iv never checked for codes before on a honda. I know you need a jumper wire and iv tried searching for a pic to see where to put each end into. DO you have a pic to show exactly where to jump at? thanks

Re: (turbocivic1984)
get a a paperclip or a wire with two ends. then go where your ecu is at then. you will finding a a plug with two wire. im pretty sure the plug is blue...im not sure...you'll see it though. put the paper clip in there. then turn the switch in your ignition (not all they way) in the cel light you'll see your codes. good luck...count the number of lights it appear. one long flash is 10 and a one short flash is a 1.
tell me what you get.
ppl correct me if im wrong.

Re: Car wont rev past 3000rpm and feels like a studder box! (jdmphilep)
ok i did it thanks... i got two codes.... 19 which is automatic transmission lockup control valve..... the other is 16 which is injectors... i counted and it just kept repeating 16 and 19
I switched auto to manual so is that code always going to show up? or what is the cause of that? Im pretty sure its because i still have the auto ecu in?correct me if im wrong though..
but the Fuel injectors? when i put in the 450's and wire them up would that cause a code to stay on? iv been using a safc2 with this setup which ran fine before. This car has been running for 3 years before the last motor blew out. Could the injectors have gone bad? or does that code mean the wiring? Would that make the ecu go limp and not rev past 3k? would the injectors code put the ecu into limp mode and cause this problem? or even with this code should the engine rev past 3k?
what do you think? this car has been down for 6 months.. hope this info helps..

code 16...look at the wiring. maybe the order you put them are wrong.
you should try putting another ecu.
you should try putting another ecu.

also try to take off the positive cable from the battery for about ten minutes. then put it back and turn on your car try revving in and lets see what happens.

k....thanks alot for the help... whats included with that code? check injectors, wires? resistor box? how far does the injector code go? i didnt think that would throw a code because there is no sensor on that.. so its new to me.. the idle is also high around 2000

did you switch all the sensors from your old motor to the new one? or did you just use the ones that came on it? one of them is proly bad, check for codes, cause there are hundreds of things that can cause it to go into limp mode, we need to narrow it down a bit, also you know to switch your ecu from auto to manual you only need to cut 1 jumper inside of it, i think its like j45 or something like that, but dont quote me, research which one it is cause im not 100% on. I remeber that cause it was in my hondata instructions so you might wanna check their site.

Re: Car wont rev past 3000rpm and feels like a studder box! (srmofo)
Ok, Good news thanks alot guys... Well yesterdayday I tried starting it and it didnt start. So i seen one of the wires by the resistor pack came off. So i rewired all the injector wires tight and retaped them. I clean out all the sensors on the intake mani. and plugs. And the distributer plugs. I unplugged the ecu and repluged it in and i only got the auto ecu code and i took for test drive and it lets me rev over 3k now! You think one of the sensors was just dirty or the rewiring help out and when i unpluged and replug the ecu that helped? Now all i have to do is switch to manual ecu. Ill try looking into cutting the one jumper. My other problem is my ideal is high 1500-2000. I will try and clean out the IACV. I tried moving the ideal swear but no change and the trottle bodie line is loose so I have to check out why its idealing so high right now.

a vaccumm leak will cause a slightly high idle, and yes the miss wired/loose wire will make ecu throw code. you should definately solder those connections to ensure clean connection

Yes there tapped right now. I will be soldering them tomorrow. I just re-cut the wires so they are all fresh, I had them tapped so i could see if that solved the problem.
