Car won't go into gear when it is not moving
Car: 1997 civic coupe
Engine: 1995 B18C1
Problem: car won't go into gear with engine running and car at stop. if i put car into gear then start engine the car wants to creep forward. I replaced the slave cylinder today, and that didn't help any. i am gonna try replacing the clutch master cylinder later today.
any help is greatly appreicated, thanks in advance

Has this been going on since the swap or is it a recent problem? Sounds to me like you installed something backward or put a broken bearing into the transmission and now the clutch won't fully separate from the flywheel.

just recently, i have been driving the swap for about 19,000 miles, it was done in nov. of last year. this has just been going on for about two weeks, but was still drivable, but now it won't go. one i get moving it is like i am trying to shift w/o using the clutch

sounds like the throw bearing it could be i had that problem with my d16 and i changed it and it was fine since then(well until now that i sold it and put a b16 in and it came with a broken rod)

it will go into gear one i get moving but it like i am trying to shift with no clutch, very "notchy". i can be going down the road, let off the gas, push in the clutch shift up into third, and without ever letting out on the clutch the car will start engine braking. when the revs drop to about 2800 then the car will drop to idle

It sounds like you're clutch isn't fully disengaging. Especially since it will 'creep' after starting, and will engine brake like you said.
Does your pedal have a good feel / adequate pressure? Have you tried bleeding? I'd make sure all the hydro stuff is okay, then look at the TO bearing and such.

yep that's a clutch problem, it's not fully disengaging like it's supposed to. You'll have to pull your clutch out and inspect it...looking at the pressure plate for damage or bent pres plate fingers etc. The disc isn't disengaging like it should between the flywheel and pres plate. I had a similar problem with my old centerforce clutch, took it out but couldn't see anything wrong with it, put a new one in and it's been fine ever since.

damn i was hoping it would be something easy, but i guess i will look into the clutch. thanks for the help. will update when i figure it out

well i finally got the car fixed yesterday, the clutch disk had broken one of the pieces that hold the springs, and finally crapped out on me.
the good side is that gave me an opportunity to upgrade. i installed an ACT h.d. pressure plate, and performance street disk, and a Clutch Masters 8lb aluminum flywheel.

Looks like I'll be needing a new clutch as well, and was thinking about this set-up. How's it working for you? Is it bad for around town / traffic driving?

thanks for the nfo, I'm 2 min away from wrapping up an auction for a 99 civic ex 5spd transmission for my sohc, want to throw the other stuff in with it....
