Default car stuck on I20 **DANGEROUS** please give ideas

so i got an electrical problem somewhere. 3 days ago my speedomiter fuse poped and i didnt think nothing of it. I replaced it. Then my SRS light came on. got worried, then my speedomiter fuse poped again. On a 30 minute ride back home, my rpm's started jumping around. most the dash lights quit working. Cd player turned off. headlights dimmed. THEN the car stalled. 20 seconds from the exit to my house. I try to restart and its like the battery is dead. I dunno wtf give me some ideas plz guys before my car becomes a target. Its beautiful, its my baby!!!

Call a towing company and get it sorted out in the morning.

Sounds like your alternator took a ****.

Just for ***** and giggles check fuse #15 under the dash.

I'd get it towed back to my (your) house and diagnose it there.

throw a fresh batter in there and drive it on home and then swap the alt out at home.... ive had to do that before. remember this will only work for a very short distance untill the fresh battery will go dead too

If your short on cash but have a truck, you can rent a car dolly from UHaul for like 40 bucks. But if I was you I would price a tow truck first. Once you get it home do what those ppl above are saying.

Are you kidding me? You left the car on the highway?

Get it towed now. Stop thinking about it. Do it.

Cars left on the road get broken into ALOT, especially on the highway/freeway because what person is going to stop it just looks like your car broke down. get that off the road!

Short distanced? My alt went dead. I re-charged my battery and drove 15 mins to advanced to get a refund on my alt that i just put in. Left the car running for about 5 mins while in the store. Drove another 15 mins home.

OP: just throw another battery in there and get it home. Then worry about fixing w/e is wrong

yeah cuz your battery is dying. The alternator isn't producing power so it's sucking up your battery juice.

if the 15 fuse is popped it wont charge your battery. you probably have a short in one of the o2 sensor wires under the intake.

BTW what year car and what model.

That means there is short somewhere in the circuit.

First thing to check is that nothing is touching the back posts of the alt causing a short.

Second would be to make sure that the battery isn't grounding out on something.

After that there are many things that could be wrong. You will have to take a test light and just start hitting every wire in that circuit

do u have a battery check light on the cluster?

should be your alternator.the smiliar things happen to me a few days ago.so i broguht my old alternator to the auto shop and they checked it for me for free.turned out the alternator was dead.so i paid $210 for a new one(remanufactore with life time warranty from advance auto parts) and everything is smooth and ok now
