2000 honda civic still overheating after I replaced the water pump, thermostat and radiator. Any Ideas on what to check next? I am at my witts end with this damn thing. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

is it leaking coolant. did you bleed the cooling system. does your fan turn on when its hot?

Try bleeding the system like this:

This procedure may take 20-30 minutes:

1) Park the car on an inclined driveway with the front end higher than the rear.

2) Push the dash heater lever/**** to MAX heat.

3) Follow the directions in the diagram below

did you bleed the system? also check the header hoses.

I havent seen any leaks. I did run it with the cap off and the heater on high for about 1/2 hour to bleed it. The fan does turn on sometimes but I went outside to heat it up real good and the fan didnt kick on. It was coming on the other day though. Hmmmmm, what do you think?

Does the engine overheat while idling at a stop or while driving?

Try jumping the 2P connector for the fan switch on the thermostat housing. The fan should now run continuously. Does this prevent the overheating? If so, replace the fan switch.

Ok I went out to the car and heated it up real good and got it up near the Hot and the fan didnt kick on. Then I let it sit for a minute and then rechecked all the connection on the fan itself. Now the fan is kicking on and off and now it wont overheat while I simulate going up a hill by stepping on the break and the gas same time. Also it has overheated both at idle and driving. So you think its a faulty fan switch.

Now that the fan works, take the car on a test drive. If it doesn't overheat, then you are good to go. If it overheats but the fan still works, I think you should bleed the cooling system again as I described in my earlier post.

i bled it with the car not have the heat on, cause when it is on the fan never comes on and the heat is dispersed from the heater system, so i let it idle and it turns on and the bubbles come up out of the cap, i left the cap off the whole time too.

You can set the heater to MAX without the blower on. All you want is for the coolant to circulate through the heater core so that all of the air can get out of the system.

so i turn the ***** to hottest, and fan to strongers and press the button on the left of the ac button, and just wait for about 10 mins? do i leave the cap off or on while doing this procedure?

-Raise front end

-Turn the heater control **** or lever to MAX heat. This opens the heater hose valve on the firewall

-Leave the heater-A/C blower fan off

-Top off coolant in radiator and reservoir

-Reinstall radiator cap loosely

-Let engine idle until radiator fan turns on two times

-Top off with coolant again and tighten radiator cap

-Done
