Car starting problems
Problem is that when its extremely cold outside (32 degrees today) and the car is cold it doesn't want to start. The motor turns but it never ignites. But eventually it does start after turning the key and waiting for it to start for a long time. I replaced the plugs, wires, and dist. cap. The battery is at 410 cold crank amps, could that be a possible problem? I bought the battery for my d16y7 but now I have a b18c1 in. I'm guessing the battery could be too weak even though it got tested and its perfectly fine. In warm weather it starts fine.
Thanks!
Thanks!

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.................
What kind of oil are you using? When you are cranking does it sound as fast as it would when warm?
If it sounds like it's cranking at the same speed then it's not your battery or oil (wrong grade of oil makes it very hard to crank when cold)

Re: Car starting problems (old man neri)
10w30. i stopped by the advanced auto parts placed to test the battery and they said it was fine and mentioned the oil might be too thick and change to 5w30 i think that's what he said. So I guess the batter should fix it. Time to trade it in.

Yeah get a 5w30, with colder weather, you want a lower viscosity oil.

10w30 and 5w30 will do the same thing in cold weather. The W stands for winter and you would want to change the 30 not the 10
edit: lol I just made myself look stupid you were right.

my truck takes 5 w 30, normally starts great in cold, dummies at oil change place put in 10w30 one time and it started doing that
so i would change to 5w30 for colder months

someone correct me if i'm wrong, i forgot the exact name of it, but isn't there like a type of sensor or switch that comes on the car and it's purpose is to help the car start under cold conditions, if your car is equipped with one then maybe thats your problem when starting the car?

I personally have never heard of any (that doesn't mean it doesn't exist) But I have heard of many switches and sensors that are there to help the car warm up when really cold. (running full rich, warm air bypass, throttle increase....etc) Is this what you were thinking of maybe?
