Car slow / not starting in cold weather?
Temperatures have recently dipped down to about 0 or -1 at night.
Since then my car has been having trouble starting up in the mornings, it takes a couple turns of the key before the engine will turn over (once it turns over it starts right up).
Is this indicative of a low battery?
I've had the car for two years and not changed the battery in that time - so I don't know how old it is.
(93 si hatch w/ D16 - not that it matters in this case I don't think)
Thanks in Advance.

Dude, its 0. 0!! Im impressed the car even starts at that temp lol. The battery will tend to take a little more coaxing. Also your oil is really REALLY thick at that temp. Once it starts, let your car warm up. You'll be okay.

I concur, it's just because it's so damn cold. Just let it warm up for a few minutes or at least drive it easy until it warms up.

At 0 degrees celcius, you should not have any problems starting your car. Batteries sold in Canada are made for cold weather.
Describe your symptoms better.
How old is your battery?
Does it have one of those green indicators on top? How does it look?
Does the starter turn really slowly?

Around 30F, I sometimes get slow cranking. Around 15F, I always crank slow. But it always starts. I know other hondas that are the same, so I figured it was normal.

The battery is more than 2 yrs old since I have had the car for 2 yrs so I don't know how old the battery is beyond that point.
In the morning I get in the car turn the key halfway. The fuel sytem primes etc. Turn it the rest of the way and absolutely nothing happens. Leave it for a second, try again and nothing. Try a third time and after a long pause of nothing, the engine will start up normally.
Sometimes it starts first try or second or fourth... very random...
Once I have driven the car and its warmed up, there is no problem starting it at all. Only when it's left overnight does the problem occur.
There is no indicator on the battery.

If anyone cares:
Just got the battery tested - it was almost dead.
So yes, the cold does affect a weak battery.
Got a new battery now...
