Icon2 Car shaking when stopped and idling

Hey guys so this is going to sound really odd, when i'm driving the car doesn't shake at all noticably but when I'm stopped at a stop sign or red light it shakes the steering wheel and the dash. Someone said a valve pinging but i'm not sure. I just changed the oil 500 miles ago so i'm not sure what could be causing this. It's kind of freaking me out. Couldn't be the alignment because it only does it when it's stopped.

Have you looked at your mounts? What does your car idle at?

The idle speed also could be too low.

Mounts appear to look fine. it doesn't always do it. I'm not sure where it's idling at because I have to replace the sensors for the speedometer and rpms. I just took them out because they weren't functioning correctly even after being reset. For now my phones my speedometer, did this today.

Well does it feel like the idle drops to low and it does it?

What car? This information is required for all tech threads.

Yeah, that would make sense. Not sure how I'd go about fixing that particular issue though. I'm a computer programmer, while cars click for me i'm not great at this yet. It does feel like it.

Well you can start by adjusting the idle screw, following the correct procedure. Id also check for vacuum leaks which you can do by spraying brake cleaner around the intake mani and tb

By the way I decided to flip the a/c switch in the car (my compressor is out it's shot. putting a new one in) and it stopped for a couple minutes. Not sure if that makes a difference

There's a diagram in the FAQs sticky for adjusting the idle speed. The tach in the cluster is useless for the procedure as it is inaccurate at normal idle speeds. You need to hook up an external tach to do it correctly.

Turning on the A/C raises the idle speed.

Also clean the IACV and replace the PCV valve.

still learning them, haven't owned it that long and bought it off someone else a couple months ago. Modified turbo (kicked on maybe once so far), D15b7 engine with internal modifications it seems and a mini me swap on the head. modified exhaust and fuel system as well.

Oh, this is going to be fun! Start with this. Like RonJ said, you'll need to connect a secondary tach for this - the one in the car is horrible.

You get the simple part of it. Just follow the tests, and hopefully we'll get this figured out for you. We get the "oh fun!" part trying to diagnose a motor that you seem to basically know nothing about.

More of an "oh joy more to fix" if you get what i'm saying. I've been repairing little thing here and there since I got it. I do know quite a bit about the engine so far but little things keep popping up. The car was a sleeper, looked like a normal 92 civic on the outside when I got it. Had no idea what was under the hood until I drove it. Got it cheap though.
