I have a OBD1 JDM B16 in a 98 civic. car ran fine, had a rod knock, replaced the whole bottom end.

now the car runs like ****. it starts up but idles like total crap, timing is good, we thought it was fuel injectors thats not it

now were stumped.

anyone have any input? im like sad i havent had my car in 2 months.

Are you sure the timing belt isn't off by one tooth?

Any CEL codes?

no CEL's and yes timing is good. but also i have adj cam gears and stage one cams, should the timming be different because of that?

if the cams are adjusted to something other than stock i would put them to stock and double check timming.

well im going to mess with the distributor and move it around, because last time before the swap the distributor isnt the way it is now. is this involved with the timing?

Yes, the ignition timing is adjusted by turning the distributor:

so i looked at it again, could it be any sensors? i dontthink its a computer problem because no CEL. What happens when i start the car it backfires and has a sorta rough idle
anyone have any ideas other than timing? im tempted to take it to a shop just dont want to get ripped out of the ***

The backfiring suggests the ignition timing may be off.

ok so thats with the distributor right? not the timing belt itself?

Yes, see the diagram. You need to jump the service connector and to use a timing gun.
