Do all the interior lights dim or turn off when you turn your headlights on? This could indicate an issue with the charging system on the car.
In fact, when I was having charging system issues (bad alternators) the lights dimming and then shutting off were an indicator to me that my car might die soon.
Autozone does battery testing (car off) and charging system testing (car on) for free. It only takes 5 minutes or so. They also test batteries and alternators (and starters) off the car for free, in the store on a bench tester.
If you get a new alternator, test it before you put it in the car! In a rush I forgot to test a new alternator and it turned out it was bad out of the box. It happens, I understand it's part of the cheaper price for their reman units. I wasn't about to buy a $700 alternator from Honda though.

My '96 had the same problem. The dimmer switch (brightness control?) has gone. Bought from the dealer, because wreckers didn't have any. They're unique to the del Sol's. It's about 150 bux give or take (consider, I'm up here in the cold 'n snow )

Just a quick something to try ... I had a similar issue on my Ek Sedan (known as "Ballade" over here )
check all earth straps.. mainly the one from the battery to the Shock pillar... and the other one running from the Transmission to the Chassis leg. they often cause issues.
when the car isn't earthing correctly .. the minute you turn on your lights (on in my case when i turned on my brake lights) the cluster would switch off and back on for a split second as if the car switched off and on ...
loosened all earth straps cleaned them off.. cleaned out the battery terminal , put a bit of vaseline over it and put it sll back on and made sure they made proper contact and voila! all sorted.
