Re: Is this car overpriced?
Ok. I don't really care if the lip is fake. In all honestly, I'm not really into modding a civic. I've just had them as daily drivers the last 6 years. I had a run in with a deer last week, and now need a replacement. This one popped up, and looks decent, so I was just checking. Honda prices down here in FL though, do seem to be a little higher. I've looked at some real POS the last week.

Re: Is this car overpriced?
Kelley Blue Book for my area has it priced at $5,600 at an excellent condition. One picture cannot do the car justice so the best thing would be to take it for a test drive and see it in person to decide if it's worth the money. The asking price is not bad but don't forget you can always talk someone down!

A little?
I drove 40 minutes to look at a 01 ex 100K $3,600. From the ad, "body is clean small scratches here and there but nothing major." I get there and the guy isn't home. He knew I was on my way. He says he had to go pick up his kids, and drop them off elsewhere. I sit there 45 minutes waiting. As he pulls in finally, I saw a large dent in the passenger door from 30 feet out. I walk up, and both front fenders looked like he sideswiped something. I'm talking deep scratches all the way to bare metal. These scrapes were along the top wheel well, and all the way down 6-8 inches towards the bottom rear of the fenders. They may have been pushed in a bit also. One of the taillights has a fist sized chunk of plastic missing with red tape over it. The rear bumper had been hit, and wasn't 100% mounted correctly. It was hanging about a half inch on the passenger side. He looks at me walking around the car, grabs the bumper, and pushed it up a little. I call him on it being a lot more rough than he said. "Bro, I drive it daily, and the price is already cheap." I was the bigger man, said, "Thanks for your time." and walked right back to my rental.
....that's only one of 5 similar stories I've had this week.

i WOULD pay 5 for it, but i wouldn't end up actually paying. offer him 2500 and go from there, worse that can happen is you end up paying 5. hopefully you can negotiate him down to 3-3.5
go get it, if it actually is in that condition, its a steal either way

Re: Is this car overpriced?
I've found a 98 EX one owner 120K miles, all stock, but the AC doesn't work for 4K. I could go about $3600 on that, as I know a new compressor with labor is about $600, as I've paid that twice in the past.

but nobody likes to be lied to either. 7 owners isn't the same as 2. neither is the "original" silver paint.

Re: Is this car overpriced?
The real question is has timing belt and water pump been service? I sold my '96 ex coupe with the same mileage, minor rear bumper paint wear, and I threw in OEM t-belt/water pump/tension for $3,300. It was completely stock but so what. This was in Sac, Ca. and the kid drove from a little north of me with his parents to come and pick it up. He was really happy of the condition of the body and how the car drove. The car was clean and I'm an honest owner/seller. You have to factor in the maintenance then you negotiate. Nvm, I just read the carfax part. I would next this car. Freak that! 96-00 civic I will never pay more than $4,000.

5k?! damn. i'd give him like 4k if it's never been hit/clean title. make sure to do a good lookover. A/C can be an expensive bill.
good luck with the new honda!

Re: Is this car overpriced?
even though you have already decided to pass on the car, i wouldnt pay more than 3500 for any d-series equipped car, even that one. i found my virgin dx coupe for 1100 2 years ago, couple had another child and the car was too small. i gave them every penny of their asking price, and even drove to them with cash and new tags.
