car overheats sometimes while at stops
so my friend has a completely stock hx civic and wants me to fix it. she says that a place she took it to said it was the water pump but i doubt it and i dont want to replace it if its not a for sure thing (waste of time).
she says it overheat SOMETIMES when she is at stops. thermostat was checked and okay and no leaking. can it be the waterpump? thats all she told me. any suggestions?

honestly have you checked ake sure that it has plenty of antifreeze or water in it. that may sound stupid but if its low it will do exactly what your saying.

+1 on double checking coolant level. Low level will cause hot temps at a stop/very low speeds but it will cool right down once moving...

1. check your coolant level (open radiator cap when cr is COLD)
2. check if fan works
3. check condition of radiator,
i was overheating back in the day, and it was a combo of things, so i fixed my fan and got a new thicker sized radiator at kragen for 100 bucks.
