Default Car overheating while at idle?

I have a 99 civic Si with I/H/E/TB/IM, the problem seemed to start after I installed my Spoon TB and Skunk2 IM. Car has plenty of radiator fluid, but I was thinking of flushing it out. It goes down in temp as soon as I start going but while I'm at idle it gradually goes up. What else could it be? thermostat?
thanks,
Charles

i would start there.
if it heats up at idle, and cools while you are moving, there is nothing pulling air in while you are sitting still. start at the fan.

Start with the fan. then thermo then your probably into too deep for the normal person.

Could be a bad waterpump, Ive seen that happen before.

if it is only at idle it would be a minor crack like in the head or something because there seams like there is air in the system. thermo would always overheat no matter what but check fan

Or maybe you have an air bubble trapped in your coolant?

Could be it, had lots of coolant leak when installed IM. I'm gonna flush it out today.

That was my problem. I took off my manifold, coolant came out (creating air spaces). I filled up my coolant, but forgot to warm my car up and turn my heat on all the way without the rad cap on (lets the air cycle out)

When I was looking at the fan it had been jammed up.(probably when I ran over a boulder ) The fan was just stuck, so got it unjammed. The only problem is could the fan motor be burnt up?

I also forgot to let it warm up with the cap off when I filled it up again.

do you have oil in the coolant? or are you burning your coolant? alot of white smoke? if not then cracked head = probably not.
did you bleed the coolant system when you were all done? you might have air in it. if you did do the fans ever kick on? if yah check the thermostat.

works like a champ... just keep an eye on the temp gauge and you are set. OR just keep it on all the time... that works too

what i did was i went to radio shack and got a switch... i cut the power wire for the fan, wired it to the switch, and put the switch under the dash right by my left leg on the panel covering the wires and fuses and ****. i got a lighted swith so that i wouldnt forget that it was on because, just like your lights, leave the fan on and this WILL kill your battery.
