Car is lagging
once again... i need your help...
Here is the run down:
The Car: 94' del sol si w/ b16a swap
-no major mods to the engine just the typical i/h/e
Things I did before this started happening;
-Used Seafoam as per instructions on the can (1/3 in the crankcase, 1/3 through the brake booster line, and 1/3 in the gas)
-Did this right after work at about 430am at a parking structure so I would not get complaints from the neighbors. Spirited driving until the smoke stopped and then drove home.
-During the drive home it was fine. I did not feel any lag; it actually felt smoother if anything
Right after I got home I changed out…
-The oil pan w/ new gasket (it was pretty beat up and leaking)
-Cam plug (leaking oil)
-New vtec o ring (was cracked and held together with silicone)
-Did a valve lash adjustment (.007" on exhaust and .006" on intake)
-Oil sandwich plate (the oil pressure sensor was not connected, so hooked it up to the plate)
-Changed out the cap (Mr. Gasket), rotor (Mr. Gasket), wires (High Performance wires 9.3mm, I know I know, I got them because they were the same price as stock wires) and plugs (NGK Iridium)
-Changed out the fuel filter (it was never changed and had about 170k on it)
-After all of this filled her up with a can of 'restore' and oil
-Switched her to the on position a few times to get the fuel pressure up and then started her.
-Was idling rough but was too tired to go back and readjust the valve lash that day, and because by that time I had to go back to work already
-About 30 miles later readjusted the valve lash to (.008" exhaust and .007" intake)
It ran smooth. For a couple of days
Then just yesterday while on the way to work I felt it lagging once I hit ~ 2500 rpms on all gears AFTER driving it for a few miles, for the first few miles it would drive perfectly fine.
While lagging the rpms would travel up very slowly and the car would feel as if it is trying to climb up a steep hill.
there are no cels
Another problem that I have had with the car is a slight grind on 2nd and 5th since then treated with GM Synchromesh and has been better (just waiting to get the money together to have it rebuilt)
Planning to do a compression/ leak down test to see the numbers, I will post them after I get it done.
what do you guys think? any comments welcome.
TIA
Sorry for such a long post.
