Default Car keeps dying cause fuse blows.

Car: 99 Civic Dx D16 Engine
Mods: Intake, Exhaust
Electronics were stolen. Pulled out DVD Deck, Subs, Amps, 6*9's
Two days later. Car dies.
Replaced: Alternater, Batt.

Problem still: Fuse for Speedometer blows after a couple minutes of start up. Then Car dies.

Replaced fuse, repeat of problem.

I don't know what the heck is going on here. Any of you mechanics who are smart enough to figure this one out.... Hats off to ya!

you have a short, mabe around where they ripped your wires, tape em up.(make sure the positive cable that goes to the amp isnt touching the car body)

Follow the wires from the speed sensor located on the trans towards the back. Follow the ground, positive, and signal wire to the back of the gauge cluster. Look for a broken wire, or most likely a bare spot in the wire where it might be rubbing against the body and grounding out, causing the fuse to blow.

ah, the infamous speedo fuse blowing.

Here's what happened-99% sure this is the case. Real common problem on these Civics. Look under the car, uynder the intake manifold. The wiring harness will actually rub either the intake mani brace or the engine bracket. It will be the black/yellow wire, which will blow the fuse and cause possibly a few DTC codes to be stored in the ecu. Guaranteed you'll find an opening in the wiring insulation. Just tape it up and you're good to go.

wow you're totally right! One of the wires near the intake manifold was all messed up! We just replaced it and now the car is running perfect. Thanks a lot man.
