car got stolen, i got it back but now i cant get it started
yo whats good? im new on honda-tech but i heard this is the place to go to get real answers and no dumb replies, so here it goes. my car was stolen a couple months ago (1992 civic Si hatch with LS/Vtec) and i got it back with the motor still in the car. i replaced the ignition and it wouldnt start. it cranks and sounds like its ready to go on but just never does. i realized i wasnt getting spark so i tested the distributor and the ignition module wasnt giving out power. sooooo i replaced it with a BRAND NEW ONE not used and it still will not go on. anyone have any ideas? could it be something as stupid as a loose wire or blown fuse somewhere? and if so how would i go about checking it out and finding the problem. please pleaseee respond because im going crazy and i miss driving my baby. thanks

yea they hot wired it but i replaced the ignition with a brand new one. what wires would be cut besides ones connected directly to the ignition.

get a wiring diagram and see what the ignition system operates off of and use a multimeter to check for voltage

the fact that the starter is going means the ignition is okay. the dist isnt getting voltage so check at the ecu to see if everything that needs power is getting power

Re: (rellmatic)
im not sure what number it is... but if your lookin directly at the fuse box from the front of the car. Its the 2nd fuse from left to right against the firewall... 15amp fuse.. that would cause ur car not 2 get spark

is there any wires connected to the cluster that would stop the car from starting? because they stole my cluster and cut all the wires and I haven't replaced it yet

Time for a compression test.
My question, how'd you end up with an LS/vtec if you don't know how to check timing? Are you a check signer? Good luck, check signer!

well checking timing is pretty simple...why ask questions like that? You can do a quick search on google or honda-tech....no one was being a "tough guy" you need to chill out, it just seems funny that someone with a swap cant check timing or search to find out how...

Re: (jbfw)
After doing 40+ swaps, and fixing other people's mess ups on countless other swaps, I've come to realize that people don't want to research their problems. They want to ask a question and get an answer. Hell, I've done swaps because people didn't want to figure out what was wrong with their old motors. I then take that motor, find out is a crank sensor or some other little ****, fix it, and then resell the thing.
Now, if you had searched or picked up a manual, your car would be running. I'm not being a tough guy. I'm being a realist. Pick up a book and read. The answers are there, and no one has to hand them to you on a silver platter. I'm not saying this to act like a jerk. I'm saying this to help you out. The car is in front of you, so you have the best ability to troubleshoot. There's no point in us wasting our time if you're not willing to put some effort into it.
About breaking my face...I have a fragile nose. Just hope I don't get back up.
