Car fires up for 5 seconds then dies after B16 swap.
Ok so I traded my old car which I had a B16 in it...well i took the B16 out, changed nothing...now when i put it in my new hatch shell it wont crank for some reason
I have checked all the grounds. they are good
Brand new spark plugs
I can smell gas when i go to crank it, so i know its getting fuel. its just a matter of if its enough.
I go to crank it, it will fire up for a good 5 seconds, then it just dies and wont crank back up until a few minutes later when it will do the same thing....if i cranks and i hit the gas it instantly dies out..the B16 ran perfect when i had it in my old shell. but now it won't do anything
HELP!?!?!

Re: (DelSolMarine)
Swap the main relay, I had a similar problem. It seemed to be getting fuel, but after the car would start the relay would quit. Hopefully that helps you out!

firing order is the same, i havent touched it. so thats good

yeah the injectors are hooked up. i'm thinking they aren't working..now i just gotta find out why...but like i said, the car ran with a different motor before i had it. i know because i took it out personally before i bought it.
i checked all the fuses under the dash. they were all good. the main relay was just hanging like it had been changed before.

so you just swap the motor in without any changes to the harness? are you using the ex harness? if not then your suppose to wire the vtec, vtec pressure, vtec groud, knock, and o2 because the harnes on your ex was prewire with it but the the cx.

i know how to swap im not stupid
i had the b16 running perfect in my old EX. but i sold the shell for this CX shell
i'm running a chipped p28, CX already has 4wire o2 and vtec wired.
but as i stated before...the CX had a running motor in it. i have since made no other changes. my B16 was running in my old EX and i made no changes to it..so it should be running, but its not

im not saying that your stupid. you asked for help so i was just trying to help you out. the only thing i can think of right now is to use try and use the ecu that came with the motor.

the ecu is fine. its the same one i used in my EX.
i'm gonna try another main relay tomorrow and see if that works, if not then i'll be pissed. i'll also throw in the old plugs to see if i accidentally fouled the new ones out. hopefully i'll get it solved soon so i can drive it

Re: (spooncivic1)
did u try the relay? It doesnt really sound like thats what it is by reading your post, but its a good possibility that it is. Another thing to try is to just tap on the relay, i have to do that on my current car on a daily basis.
