car dumps coolant in over flow tank
Ok about every 3rd week, my hatch will just dump about half the coolant in the radiator into the coolant over flow tank, if i stop and let it cool, dump everything back into the radiator, its fine
now here is my question, what would be causing this to make this sort of thing happen?
I have replaced thermostat/radiator/water pump - flushed the entire coolant system, i have a 13pound radiator cap(if that makes a difference - they had a choice for a 16 lb one - could that be it)
but it still does it to this day, i dont have any misc coolant leaks, and my head gasket isnt blow(i dont think- because the coolant is as green as it can be when i dump it back in the radiator)
anyone have ANY clue of what could be causing this??
if it makes a difference, i have a 98 civic hatchback with a GSR doulbe wide radiator supportin a b20/vtec
TIA

Re: car dumps coolant in over flow tank (blackhatchb20)
Dont know if this helps but, I had a similar problem and it was a blown head gasket/stretched head bolts. If it happens when you are gettin on it, it may be the same thing. If it just happens then Im not sure.

Re: car dumps coolant in over flow tank (drnitrus)
i have ARP head studs, so i dont think they are stretched...i have only torqued them down twice, it doesnt happen when i get on it, i'm just normally driving and boom, dumps all the coolant, i will go buy a 16lb radiator cap and maybe that will fix it
thanks guys
