Ok first off, this sucks!

my car: 95 civic coupe with b18b

I was driving down the road at like 45 in 4th gear. All of the sudden the rpms go to 0 and the car dies. I try and start it in neutral with the clutch in, nothing happens. so i pull off and try and see if i can do anything.

It cranks, just wont turn over.

Today with my car i did the following:
-installed zex kit, sprayed 2 times, like 10 seconds total.
-fixed my stock header with some jb weld on teh outside so it wont leak anymore , from a stripped stud, temporary fix.

Its dark so i could see when running the o2 sesor wire (had to extend it cuz bung is in bottom of the header so could the fumes of it gettnig hot do anything?

My guess is somthing with the fuel. I have no idea. A friend , JSutter2 here on h-t is comin in like 30 min when her gets off work to see what we can do.

any idea?!?

i just gotta get it running so i can drive back to lexington, ky for school by monday. doh!

Are you getting spark...? Do you hear the fuel pump kick on when you turn the key...?

Sounds like it could be the fuel pump or an ignitor to me...

could be just a dirty fuel line ..but as mention d it could be electrical or a bad fuel pump...but befor going into a long project, clean out the fuel lines.

before wasting your time cleaning out the fuel lines.....check for spark, its the easiest thing to start with. Just pull a plug wire off of the cap and hold about an inch away...get your buddy to turn it over, you should see some spark. IF there is none...you know its ignition related.

Now, if you arent getting spark, it could be the distributor housing itself, something inside the distributor(i.e. coil, ICM) or something before the distributor(ECU and wiring harness). The easiest way to test is if you use a friends to see if it will work(distributor). Make sure its the same OBD and for the motor.

Now, if you are getting spark, then check for your fuel. When you turn the key over, you should hear a short priming from the pump(its on top of the fuel tank(under back seats) It will be a short hummmmmmm. If you hear nothing, could be the pump needs replacing. Now, if you hear it prime, then you can check something else. Unbolt the rail and keep the injectors on the rail, point the injectors up, and give the key a quick turn over, and fuel should spray from the injectors. If it does, you know fuel is not your problem.

Now, if you are getting spark and fuel, the only other thing that could possibly be stopping you is compression(lets hope not). Its just a few basic things to get you started. I tried hitting you up on AIM but you werent there...Get back to us or me on AIM DBigD6. Good luck.

I know that problem.. It's your fuel injection main relay. It's faulty. It's happened to me before. But I did replace the distributor along with it also because I wasn't getting a spark and it was cheaper for me to get a distributor..

the same thing happened to me, but i was in 3rd doin 35,,, it was my timing belt. buy some starting fluid n spray it in ur intake see if ur car starts

Please disregard this post. The motor wouldnt even turn over like it was going to crank if his belt broke.

I just got back from checkking his car , sence i seem the be the local honda tech ....main relay doesnt click ...fuel pump not running ..seems to have spark ..So lloks like he needs a new relay good luck stites ..shitty

yup, i agree. check the ignitor and coil. ...it happened to me also and it is very common on honda motors after 70k.

this has happened to me twice and both times it was the main ignition wire that. It just fell out and my car died. Takes 2 secs to plug back in. You should check that out first.

If you are sure it has spark to the distributor, then you know for sure that the car has electrical power, i.e. the battery and alternator are good.

There is also a fuel pump fuse on some cars underneath the dash. Check that too.

You talking about the main fuel relay under the dash ? If so, you can actually pull it out and run electrical tests on it to check for continuity, the Helms has the testing diagram type thing and what the results should be.....
