Icon2 Which car to buy/potentials of engine

A mechanic I know and trust is selling two cars, one a 99 Integra GSR with a B20 Vtec motor, stock, w/40,000mi he wants $8000.00 and the other a 2000 Honda Civic LX with only 40,000 miles, the Civic has a stock motor with turbo at 7psi and performance fuel pump and injectors, he wants 7,000.00. I want a car both reliable and something I can dump money into to make it a better performer. I am a bit scared the turbo might harm the engine so without it he will sell the car for 5500.00 which isn't a bad deal, however I lose some of the reasons I wanted the car in the first place. I want to know which one you think I should go with and also which motor has a higher potential for HP the civic or the integra thanks!!

if you have 8000$ to put on a car and the GSR is in good condition GSR ALL THE WAY hands down, all you need to know is that its a bseries over a dseries more potential in a B series then in a D series thats just my .02

we need a little more info about both cars before anyone could give you any REAL advice, for instance. Is the b20 vtec in the GSR a stock gsr head on a stock b20 bottom end? or does it have hight compression pistons etc etc....Also the turbo'd civic, is it 7psi on a t25 turbo? or is it 7 psi on a gt42r turbo(wouldn't that be interesting)? nomesayin? personally i'd go for the GSR, but that's just me.

GSR at first thought. What are your plans for the car ? You say you want to male it a better performer, how deep are your pockets, $$$$ ?

Do you want a DD with around 180whp may be 200whp or do you want something with 3-400whp ?

You can turbo the B20 and have more bang for the buck, but another 2-3000.

Sounds like the D series had stock internals, there good for about 220whp. At 7psi the civic should run for a long time.

Either car, once you get into the high HP they become less of a DD.

Lots to think about, just remember it all cost money...
