Car broken into. Need new ignition. Which part to buy?
So my car got broken into, but the thief was unable to get my car started. He decided to leave me with a fucked up ignition, so I need a new one.
Based on this diagram:
http://www.hondaautomotivepart...WITCH
Which is what I need?
Based on the diagram, it appears that part #001 includes ALL the locks, the ignition, and new keys, and #002 is just the ignition and keys.
However, there are two parts listed below for both #001 and #002
So what am I getting with each part number?
My "educated" guess is that:
23497 - all locks and ignition
23496 - all locks and ignition and keys
20707/20706 - Just ignition and keys?
I would call but they are closed until monday, and I need this information to negotiate with a local stealership who is open on weekends.

i say just get number 2 .. which will run about 100.00 and you can put the old cylinder back in the new ignition housing.
that way you have all the same key and your just getting a new housing which he broke off the steering column..
and to take the cylinder out fromt he housing.... put the key in and turn it once then you will see a little tab on the top , push that in and pull out the key cylinder , then slap the new one it.... done..

its a good thing they did not get your car started...
i would much rather be left with repairing my steering column rather then the whole car...
good luck with the repairs man...

Dont forget about the tamper-proof torque screw holding the cylinder to the housing; you'll need a special bit to get it out. It's not as simple as just pushing that pin in. Also - dont pull the cylinder out too fast or you wont be able to see how to put it back in. It's kinda tricky and/or annoying. I was able to do it though, kept my same key

So have you driven the car yet?
Both times my ex's car was stolen i had to replace the steering column too. Not that the wheel won't turn but the shaft is bent and when you turn the wheel you can feel how it f*&&^ up.
To break the ignition off they use a crowbar and pry against column and your ignition till it breaks.

Is there different ignition styles in the years between 92-95? I pulled a column fron the junkyard and it doesnt have the 6 point hex key and I believe there is more electrical connections on the housing that my 95 EX coupe??
Any info would be much appreciated.
