Car and Bank account not cooperating! need your opinions.....
Alright well here is the deal. I'm broke and i need these things for my car
1993 Civic Ex coupe
Lowered as of now with skunk2 coilovers and stock blown shock/struts
4 Strut/Shocks
4 Tires 15's
camber kit
alignment
I know everything i would get if i had the money but i don't so i have to shop smart and i was hoping H-T could help me out, here is what I'm thinking about getting.
Shocks
KYB AGX from egay- $309.00 - $330.00 depending on who i trust
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...90#11
or
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33590
Tokico Hp's - $250.00
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33590
Tires
205/50VR15 Yokohama AVS ES100 Blackwall - $336.02 shipped off of tirerack
I'd love to get some Falken Azenis but i think they will be out of my budget for now
Camber kit
Skunk2 or Omni Power Kit off of one of the many H-T members or sales that are always going on $140.00 - 150.00
and for the rear i'll just get bolts and washers from the hardware store - $10.00
and of course the alignment from my favorite local shop.
so i'm looking around $800.00 in parts so far plus alignment
If anyone has any recommendations as to something else i should look into or even any of these parts used for sale please feel free to PM me or post here with your comments.
Edit: forgot to mention car was lowered already

I (and half the board) are running the KYB's. Can't go wrong there.
Sounds like you'll be running stock springs? You won't need a camber kit. Take that money and get Eibach pro-kit or H&R sport springs. With less than a 2" drop, camber kit won't do you any good, especially since you're getting an alignment afterwards.
Yoko's are a fantastic street tire. I even tracked them a few times while my Azenis were still in storage, and they did much better than I expected. Good choice.

Hmmm... I couldn't help you there. I've been avoiding coil-overs so I wouldn't need one. It's tough trying to sort out everyones oppinions on camber kits. All I know from my research is to stay away from OBX, and that some of the older Skunk2's have problems holding their adjustment. I don't think there's too much bad press about the Omni's, but I can't say for sure.

Sorry don't want to jack anyones thred, but...
EX_autoxer,
You don't think a camber kit is needed if you lower your car less than two inches? I was thinking of getting the HR sport springs that lower about 1.75" with KYB AGXs.

how low is your car and if you don't mind how much does the Ingalls kit normally run?

Not too sure about this, but I heard that if your camber and everything isn't a stock set up, you have to get it aligned by a specialist and not just your favorite local shop. Any truth to this?

Usually not a problem, might have to go to a few different places, but car-x and those kinds of places all said they would do mine, I just picked the cheapest place which was a car-x.
They told me they couldnt adjust the camber, but I knew that, so I had them set the toe at 0 and make sure the rest of the stuff was in spec.
I got -1.5* front and -2.75* back and my tires are wearing fine, a little faster on the inside, but I have gotten almost 30k out of them, they are toyo proxes fz4

What kind of settings do I need to run on my camber and alignment for regular street and daily driving use? I've heard it's good to have toe set at 0 and then others say its not. Why are you running a negative camber?

No, you don't need one. I'm dropped about 1.75" on KYB with Eibach Pro-Kit's. I've been running about 30K with no abnormal tire wear, and just over -2* camber in the rear. The fronts are still within Honda spec, (I think) around -1.7* or so. Camber at that amount of drop doesn't wear tires as long as you get a good alignment.

I've never had a problem finding a place to do mine. Although, since it was a 4 wheel alignment, it cost me around $85. If you go into your local tire or autobody shop, they should be able to direct you to somebody that can do it for you.
If your car is dropped alot, you may have trouble finding somebody with a machine that can do it for you, but I'm sure you'll just have to make a few phone calls.

Without a camber kit, your camber isn't adjustable. Neg camber is better for performance, because there is a greater contact patch while cornering. Your toe should be set at zero (the alignment shop should have the specs for your car anyway), and if it is, you should have no wear problems with a mild drop and about 2* neg camber.

3.) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...WA:IT
289.00 + 25.00 shipping = 314.00 total
and then i'm planning buying my camber kit and installing all at once... after that is all said and done hopefully i'll have enough money from all the stuff i'm selling (see sig) to buy some decent tires

I don't udnerstand why people spend what little money they have on cars. There are so many better things to be doing with limited funds...
Sell your car, get something reliable and gas efficient, and put your money to better use.

How about NOT getting anything? If you're broke, why are you going to spend $800? With that $800, you can get what you need and pay for what you need until you find yourself another job.
If your tires are shot, go to a local tire shop and get used ones in good condition. For 4 15s, it should run you about $80 MAX.
If your shocks are shot, keep on riding them. Wiat until you have a job to get some nice ones.
If you need a camber kit, raise your car up so you won't keep eating tires. Get a job, then save your money and get a nice kit and nice tires.
All in all, get a job and don't spend what you have left on your car. It isn't worth it.
