Default cant read cel on jdm eg6 cluster

hey all, i finally got my car running again after a fire, got the interior harness and engine harness tucked, i chipped the ecu myself, ran new battery wires and whatnot, but i notice the car is running a little rough and the check engine light is on, so i jump the little plug and turn the key to the on position and the light just stays on solid and doesnt blink, i am just wondering if this is due to me having a jdm cluster in my car, any input is appreciated

it should still work. my bro's hatch has a JDM cluster with a K swap and the check engine light still blinks and works if there is a code popping up.

it might have to be something with your wiring maybe? did you have to cut and splice wires?

oh goodness I hope not lol, i spent a long time doing that chip job and i made sure to be as careful as possible, i have some experience with board soldering and i mean i didnt melt the board or anything of that nature

as for the wiring i had NHswaps13203 did it, he is very good at what he does, the car starts and idles normal, at first i had to change the map sensor plug, which nick explained i might have to do, only when i hit the throttle does it sputter which i believe is the O2

Solid cel is an ecu problem, I'm having the same issue with my socketed ecu right now.

agreed. solid cel = problem with the ecu. try swapping to a known good ecu or reloading your map as suggested above

ill try swapping it out with the other chip i have, i got the kit from xenocron so ill call them if the problem persists, for some reason when my engine harness was made there was no oil pressure switch for vtec on it, so that will also be looked at, but i dont know if thats what could also be causing the cel

no vtec switch would cause a CEL but it shouldnt be solid. are you sure you are jumping the connector correctly?

tell u what u could do. take out your eeprom and start the car. if it doesnt run worse then u know u have a connection problem somewhere or just bad ecu. if it does then u must just have a bad map

yeah ill try that tomorrow, i plugged a different ecu in and was actually able to flash codes, started up fine, it either flashed a 7 or a 16, 7 is TPS sensor, which is plugged in and 16 is injectors, this thing is gonna be the end of me

Not meaning to thread jack, BUT; To the people that have a JDM cluster in the USDM car, how do you get the OEM dimmer switch to operate it? The US has the yellow and the white clips, with 5 pins each. And the JDM has an opening for a single green clip with four pins. I checked the sticky, but I cant find what I am looking for.
