Default Can't hear the vtec... is it working?

Hey all, I just bought a 94 si hatch this weekend and I can't hear the vtec. I'm using the stock airbox and it moves pretty good but I don't know if the vtec is working. Is the sohc vtec quieter than the B-series?

I love the car btw

vtec is real quiet on the D16Z6, especially with stock intake/exhaust. It comes on at 4800 rpm. Listen real close and you might hear it.

If you had a downpipe (cai) and a zex or Gude cam, you'd be able to hear it as well as feel it.

It uses two double D size batteries.

edit: after replacing your battery, make sure you have your speaker up in your car, or else you will not hear the vtec kick in, in your sohc vtec car.
