cant figure out whats wrong with my car, revs but won't move forward. auto
i had this problem for a while and finally have a chance to work on it since the snow has stopped. the car is a 97 civic ex automatic. the problem is, after about 10-15 mins of driving, it would be hard to get the car moving after coming to a stop. it would just rev in first gear and move forward slowing, after the rpm has reached about 3000+ rpm, the trans would jerk into second and then the car would drive normal going into 4th and stuff. but everytime i come to a stop, the same would happen with the reving in 1st. if i park the car for a couple hours and let it cool down, it would accelerate from a stop like normal but after 10-15 mins the same problem again. also, if i drive in [2] the car would accelerate normal. problem only in [d4] and [d3] so its has something to do with the first gear. or some type of sensor associated with this. i first thought it was the tps, but i replaced it with two others and still the same. could anyone give some advice that i could check out. do you guys think its the tranny

have you checked the tranny fluid level lately? when it was hot?
have you replaced the fluid? if your tranny gets hot enough to cook the fluid, then it will lose its effectiveness.
also, if you have replaced the fluid lately, then did you run the car through the gears for 10-15 seconds per gear?

Re: (hungrymunky)
i haven't checked the fluid. you know what, my car is due for a tranny fluid replacement. i'm gonna change the tranny oil and see if that helps. i'm change the motor oil and flush the anti-freeze while i'm at it but till then would be happy to hear more advices on stuff to check out. so far it hasn't thrown any codes.
