Cannot set idle per FSM procedure - any ideas?
Ok, SOHC ZC swap is in the beater and starts up - It idles at 2000 rpms. I tried the FSM process of unplugging the IACV and idle drops to 1500 rpms. We turn the Idle screw in and out with no luck, it still idles at 1500 rpms.
Throttle cable is set correctly.
If I loosen the screw all around, it won't start.
I pull out the backup fuse to reset ECU, plug in IACV and start the car and set screw inbetween, it starts to hunt for idle.
Idle screw has to be all the way in for it and if its somewhat screwed in, idle is back to 1500 rpms...
No vaccum leaks anywhere.
The IACV is clean and so is the FITV.
WTF is going on - anyone experience this? Don't want to take it in to the stealership who will freak out when they see a ZC motor.

Let the car run till the fan comes on then goes off look at the idle, loosen the throttle cable till theres small amount of slack on it (no tension) disconnect the iacv and proceed to adjusting your idle. Is you iacv clean? Is the cooling system burped?

Did you make sure there is no debris in the idle screw air pathway? A lot of times there is debris that will clog it and prevent any air from going in and your IACV will open up to make up for the lack of air. Theres another guy on here thats having the same problem.

fully burped - runs great. t-stat opens and fan kicks on.
T-cable has appropriate slack.
I need to see what ECU this car has in it, I wonder if it can be ECU?

well, its from a junkyard and in pretty good shape - my old FITV an IACV seemed suspect, so I replaced the IM and IACV, FITV and TB during the swap with all new gaskets. I don't cut corners, so I am really stumped!

Any way to tell what kind of ECU I need to have in my car - I assume P06. Will an AT ECU cause my idle to be messed up? Car drives fine otherwise...

Its your fast idle valve under your throtle body ,there is two small round cover with two bolts in it, open it
look inside you,ll see a white plastic round cylinder with a metal pin in the middle,
thread the white part clockwise it should have two grooves on each side, do like a couple of turns and put the cover back on try this until you get the rigth idle

Thanks - I have already cleaned and reset the FITV. Every DIY thread says to open it up and tighten it all the way in and throw it on. Thats what I did.

Nope, I have been meaning to, but no idea how to do it. I searched on here and couldnt find it. I even purchased a multimeter - don't know what setting and which terminals to check and how to. A nice write-up would help!

No, I threw a new swap in the car. Its a JDM SOHV non-vtec 1.6L and swapped a IM and TB from a junkyard. I have checked for vaccum leaks and such. Even replaced fuel filter. I have done all the basic stuff. The ECU in the car is P06-A00 which is a federal 5 speed OBD1 ECU. I am throwing no codes. I cleaned IACV and FITV before installing it. I am lost as to why the car is doing this, guys!
