Default Considering buying an 00 SI

Hey everyone, I know a little bit on these cars but nothing to the degree I hope you all do, I'm an Accord person so that's basically the extent. There's an awesome deal here locally on one and I am looking at it tomorrow, is there anything in particular I should look for on them? Any really prone areas to rust or get damaged? Any help is appreciated

personally i would only buy an Si if it were virgin, but good luck with that. just make sure it wasn't ABUSED. check rear wheel wells for rust.

Make sure it's an Si (vin: 1HGEM1...)

Make sure it has the Si gauge cluster

Make sure the engine is B16A2 and not a D16Y8

Make sure it has rear disk brakes

Make sure it has a larger *** front sway bar and a dinky rear sway bar

Yep, got the VIN and checked it

I think at one point it had gauge pods in the front A pillar, but that was replaced with stock

Stock intake, stock engine from what I can tell from pics, I'm going out physically tomorrow to inspect it

And it's basically a virgin only 52k miles on it!

Nah, she's a black one,

powdercoated gold si wheels
some aftermarket exhaust
some aftermarket springs

Other than that though she's stock, clean titled etc. I love the blue ones, but I'll settle with the black at this price haha

Never liked the idea of having an EM1, no offense to you guys that own one. Just my opinion.

1) Its just a Civic (a heavier Civic at that)

2) Thief magnet

3) Usually the same price as a stock GSR

4) stock B16 can be "fun" but eventually is not good enough

Well it's coming off my aging 97 Accord DX auto

so 150k miles no power accessories to 50k miles and power accessories is a major bonus

Lol and I'm still an Accord guy at heart, i'll try to find me a CD5 couple manual some day.

I'll see what I can find but after looking at some of the info in the civic forum it looks like the ITR swap is a huge improvement (and looks like a debadging is in order haha)

Definetly want to debadge just so you wont stand out as much. IMO I'd just boost the b16 it has than swap the motor. You'll be much faster than a stock ITR swap.

My friend has one and they are really nice cars. I would love to have one as a DD but theft is such a huge deal with these things.

If i were you i'd make sure you get a good alarm system (if it doesn't already) & a quick release. It wont guarantee anything but it helps a bit. Have fun with the car and be safe

I know which one you're looking at. It's in the EM1 thread in appearance for sale. It looks great. Go for it. I would buy it if I lived close to there and had the funds. Of course open the oil cap and check inside the head. Enjoy

You can turbo a vtec motor but its not good for the motor to run a lot of boost typically. Em1 are great tho, little luxury with performance. make sure its never been wrecked.

Yeah two minor incidences on Carfax, nothing other than that, all stock parts (just got back from looking at it tonight)

Headlights were a little hazy (just a polish will fix that)

Comes with 2 extra Azeni's and DEPO fogs brand new which I would've done in any case. Has a rather loud and large fartcan on it, so that's first to go hahah

Yep, pretty excited about it, only a couple issues with it but not horrible

1) fart can
2) holes in the a pillar (guages)
3) random radioshack button drilled in (who knows lol)
4) humming from front left tire (wheel bearing?)
