The cam journals could be binding as this is not a stock cam.
Did you lube the cam w/ assembly lube before starting the car ?

did you make sure all the timing marks were lined up correctly when you put it in, and check the timing after installing the cam

what about the vtec lobes? the d15 doesnt have vtec...
i would think if it fit, there would be mad lumpy idle.

swapping cams:
d16z6 <=>d16y8<=>JDM d15b sohc vtec (VTi) = interchange but require -+4.5 deg
d15b7<=>d16a6<=>zc sohc<=>d15b# (non-vtec 16v)
basically you need to keep it within the same type of head, there are 4 kinds of SOHC heads:
-16 valve non-vtec (88-91 Si d16a6, DX, LX)
-8 valve non-vtec (CX, HF)
-16 valve sohc vtec-e (HX, VX)
-16 valve sohc vtec (92-5 Si, EX)
honda cams which really don't or can't be interchanged due difference in valve train =d15z1 or d15b sohc vtec-e (ETi), HX d16y5, d15b8 (8 valve)<=>d15b2

Re: can you put D16 camshaft in D15? (eg6ajk)
ok the cam chaft was for a 88 91 crx si 1.5 non vtech. I did get it working the lifters just had to be adjusted to a completly different setting. I still have to get it tuned though. It is running but it is a little slower than it was before. and sounds just a little rough. so i just need to play with the timing and the adjustments on the cam gear. After this is up and running i am done with this stupid engine and saving up for a B18. I still have a Focuz intake manifold for a B16 for sale also. only used for about 3 days.
