can u compression test a motor that is out of the car?
 
i wanted to buy a longblock today but i got to the shop too late. the guy said i go back next time and he'll have one cleaned and tested out for me. i was wondering is it possible to comp test a motor that isnt in a car. thanks

Yes. If you got one of those engine stands that allows the motor to run....im not sure what there called..

You can compression test them dry, but it really doesn't mean shit. Without the motor being warm it's not accurate.

If you do a dry test have oil in the engine and use the starter to crank it over. Be carefull though they buck a little. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

it was actually hmotors online that told me this, i wonder what kinda tests they do on them before selling them to customers. from all that i have read about them form h-t, 99.9% of the customers are happy!

yeah dont worry about hmotors good stuff there. there warehouse is like a big kids playground, you'll cathc yourself just looking around trying to spot cool stuff.
and last time i was there i went to the washington muutal down the road and saw a fist fight in the parking lot!!! what a day! got some car stuff and saw a fist fight. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
