Default can someone tell me why these 2 d16y8's are different?

I am pulling a blown motor out of a 99 2 door ex, and the motor that is in there has two different things the other one doesnt. 1 is a coolant line, but I dont know why they would be different. On the new engine there is the 2 bigger main hoses and on the engine that is in the car now there is 2 bigger ones and 2 smaller ones. The other is a blue sensor in the back of the block, im sure it will throw a code because its not plugged in and there isnt even a spot on the new engine for it to thread in.

that blue sensor looks to be the oil pressure sensor.

what year motor is the other y8? is it from like a 96-98? the blue plug is a knock sesor for sure though...but i know the hanresses are different on the knock sensors...so you will have to switch the narness from the other motor

your blue sensor is definitly a knock sensor, all y8 engines had the knock sensor. even the y7 block had the threads for the KS but you must not have 2 y8 engines there. the hoses are like that because one is a newer y8 engine and honda changed the design of a few things in 99-00. the other must be 98 or older, dont know why

most likely you have a jdm engine and a usdm one, one has a set up for emissions and one doesnt.

its not a jdm emission thing. its a matter of 2 different versions of obd2. ur seeing the differences between the 96-98 and the 99-00 y8.

There is no jdm version of the y8, they were only produced for the US.

Well this is what I found out. I was doing this swap to help a friend. He found the engine and picked it up. When he came the motor was pretty complete it had intake manifold and dizzy, and exhaust manifold. The intake manifold is from a y8 so I honestly didnt look at the motor much further. Then I started noticing the differences like the water neck and no knock sensor then I realize this is a d16z6 with a y8 manifold. I got a d16z6 a while back in great running order for $250 and my buddy paid $550 for this one. I guess next time ill look at the engine code first, it just through me off with the y8 intake.
