Can someone tell me how to use this "Tie Rod" puller? Pics inside!!
Ok, I just rented this from Autozone.
Is this what I need to remove the upper control arm?
Do I need it to reinstall the skunk2 camber kit?
I've never used one of these and thought it would be a little larger. As you can see it's smaller than my hand and my hands are not very big...
Is that the right tool for this job on my 98 Civic?
Thanks!

Thats the right tool, but you may not even need it.
You take the fork looking part and you put it on top of the upper arm. The bolt part goes under the ball stud.
When you turn the bolt, it pushes the ball stud out of the arm. I was able to lightly tap mine with a hammer to get it out.
EDIT : now that I am looking at it again, it may not even fit over your arm. If not, just use a hammer, but dont hit to hard or you will deform the stud where it is drilled for the cotter pins.
And you dont need it to reassemble. Just tighten the nut to spec.

thats it.... the right piece.
the open end of the fork faces the sky.
slip it over the LCA.... you may need to unscrew that bolt almost all the way to get it to clear, and you may need to wiggle the fork in place...
the end of the bolt inside the fork willl be pushing the balljoint bolt up through the LCA.
be careful to avoid crushing the end of the balljoint .. those threads are needed later on!

I had a lot of trouble with that style of puller, it wants to slip off the end of the bolt all the time. For $18, you can get the Craftsmen one at Sears which is just a 2 pronger fork. You slide the tines of the fork around the balljoint and whack the end with a hammer, that simple.
To reinstall, just reassemble the joint and tighten the castle nut to the proper tourque specs, 36-43 lb/ft. Start with 36 and tighten until the hole for the cotter pin lines up with the slot in the nut.
