From what I understand you will need the exact ECU for that motor to pass legally via the BAR since you have a motor swap.

I am testing my b16 del sol w/ a p28 tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. Do you have to go to a state ref? or just smog?

I passed at a test only center with a b16 w/p28 and ctr cams. It just barely passed because it was being tested as a 1.6 sohc as the chassis should have had...

the state ref checks the ecu you are running....
also from what i gathered from my whole smog experience is that the numbers are not too far off possibily even similar..
I basically put 2 and 2 together and OBD I honda motors are basically the same...they are all pretty clean and im guessing are tested with the same or close to numbers...
i found this out because i wanted to get a pretest on my 95 jdm b18c....and at the pretest station they were having problems with the computer because you have to put in a certain number so that the computer will be able to read your emissions...
I asked them if they can just plug in a 95 integra gsr into there and pretest it as that...the smog tech said that they can smog it as my stock motor (d16z6) because the numbers were virtually the same....
and...
when i went to the ref....they smogged my car as a 95 gsr and the numbers were the same as my 93 d16z6.....
hope that helps...

good to know... I thought it would be lower since the b16 is a "high output" "performance" motor... Good info.
thanks

Re: can i pass smog in cali with a p28??? (EG2 SiR)
i have a barred B18C1 94 Hatch and i smogged it with the P28 because it was due.
at first she failed but i noticed he was running it as the D seies then told the guy no its a 1.8 not a 1.5
he was like you can do that why did you say that to me i cant smog your car
i showed him the bar sticker and he shut up quick.......passed no problems.....i even think i forgot to cut the jumper for the chip!!!!
didnt even tune the car
