can civc exhaust cause power lose on H22?
what's the stock civic exhaust diameter? how about H22 prelude exhaust size? would I notice a large power lose if I were to use a stock civic exhaust on a stock H22 motor?

its in a civic right? if it is, u have to use a civic exhaust because of the fitment of it. u just use the h22 header and the civic exhaust. besides, i don't think that the diameter would be that much different that u would lose a noticeable amount of power

well this the thing, I am currently using the civics STOCK from Honda exhaust on my H22 and I wonder if the diameter of the stock exhaust would hurt my pertformance by about 10hp?

Yes it is causing a Bottleneck and is making it harder for the engine to breathe. You need bigger piping on the car. And yes about 10 horse power or more would be about right. How much easier is it to breathe through a McDonald's straw then a 7-11 coffee cup straw.

stock exhaust is about 1.75" you are definalty loosing power. stock prelude is closer to 2" with a well flowing muffler (compared to civic at least)
think 2.2l vs 1.5/1.6l designed exhaust
for one, I lost 12whp with using 60mm Apexi WS vs my RSR N1 exhaust
but there is huge difference in design and flow as the stock/apexi muffler are not straight through designs

I have a JDM h22a in my ek and I dynoed 12hp lower with a custom 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust with vibrant muffler, then when i switched to my greddy evo cat back. So I would imagine the stock <1.75" exhaust i think> would flow way less, and you'd be losing major power.

your so very wrong.. i lost almost 15whp from my CX exhaust/header when i swapped over to DOHC side... night and day difference.

Re: can civc exhaust cause power lose on H22? (FLAMENCOVTEC)
this is really making me rethink getting a 2.25 custom catback with an es oval.
Would I make more power with An N1 Exhaust? How loud is the N1
BTW all is going on a B16 hatch

2.5" is a good size for a N/A h22a. 3" is better for turbo.. This is what I have found and seems to be the general concencious.

Check out this link from ImportReview.com. It compares a stock civic exhaust versus an aftermarket one on a gsr motor.
