a jerky shift can occur from several things. my fiancée's toyota has a jerky shift cause i need to change her oil. i know that already and am doing it later today. this old oil has made her check engine light come on though and it only jerks when the light is on. again, i already know the source. the engine is trying to intentionally slow itself down because of bad lubrication. thus creating a jerky shift.

my problem here is that on her car it is jerky on 1-2 and 2-3. which it should be under the circumstances. your car is jerky into 4th leading me to believe it needs automatic trans fluid or a new transmission altogether. i would go to a transmission shop after i got an oil change if the problem kept going. only reason for the shop is due to i do not mess with automatics. too many parts involved. otherwise it is much more complex than a standard shift. let us know how it goes.
