Default Can any civic owners confirm I've been screwed (I got a b16 head instead of b18c5)

An ebay seller apparently thought he was selling a type r head (2000) complete with valvetrain and cams, and some sensors, etc....

Can any b16 owners confirm my suspiscion that I paid $850 US for a b16 head:

After taking apart the head to reveal the cams, the intake cam has a "G" on it while the exhaust cam has an "h" on it

two pics of the intake cam:

Here's a pic of the paint on the intake and exhaust valve springs:

Let me know what you guys think, if anyone can identify the cams and valve springs it would be greatly appreciated!

That appears to be a USDM ITR cam to me, but it has been a while since I looked at the site with that info so I could be wrong.

i dont know how to tell the difference between ITR and B16 heads, but i'd check the intake ports, see if they're polished at all.

ITR has dual valvesprings on both intake and exhaust side.

Intake ports fo not appear polished. I just want to identify the cams and valve train. AT this point i'm pretty sure the head is not an ITR, but if the valves and springs are not ITR, then I am really screwed. I just need help identifying the cams and valve springs.

Judging by the fact I have 3 rings on my cam, I don't think I have any of the above........

ITR valvesprings have yellow & blue paint on them....those are NOT ITR valvesprings those don't look like ITR cams - dude you got ripped - point the guy to this post as proof & get you money back does not appear to be a ITR cam either all 2000 & 2001 ITR cams have 2 engrave rings

edit - i was unable to find pics of Si cams but my guess is they look like GSR cams - I found a link to pics of GSR cams that look EXACTLY like yours
see pics --> https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=472863

what was the sellers name - so we can email him/not buy from him?

[QUOTE]

Some ITR springs have different colors than yellow or blue. I don't remember which colors though. And 2000 JDM ITR intake cam only has one ring. I honestly couldn't tell you for sure if it is a b16 or ITR head for sure. Best be would be to just look and see if there are dual springs.

i have a 00 ITR head and 00 ITR heads came with blue and yellow springs. those are not ITR springs. the last way to tell is look at where the distributor mounts. there should b some green paint there. that also identifies it as a ITR head. dont look at the ports. the stock "porting" that everybody claims is there is ****. ITR having a factory port job is more myth that truth. the lower part of the port has just been blended its not really a port job at all.

The cams look very similar to the b17 cams. my cam appears to have a singel notch on the end tho.......

i'm going to e-mail the seller a link to this post. I don't think that he intentionally sold a non ITR head (which is what I paid for), but I need some sort of agreement to be worked out since I dont want a b16 head and paid $850 USD shipped for it...............

Can anyone comment on the engraved letters on the cams (G on the intake cam and H on the exhaust)

Guess what color yellow and blue make when mixed? . Seriously though, what's the difference between the two heads? I'm not saying that there's any justification in selling you the wrong product...I'm just curious.

That's pretty gay though. I hope you get this resolved.

does your head have a stamp that says "PR3-3" or anything similar to that, on the front near the exhaust ports, that will end all the guess work, it could still be a type-r head but with mix and match b16-b17 internals.
but still try to get your money back

ebay scammers

let me link the pic for you lazy asses GSR CAM

I have NEVER heard of ITR valvesprings painted another color besides yellow & blue....no green near the dizzy on the head MEANS ITS NOT A ITR HEAD ....my post up top should have answer the question

i believe si heads say pr3-3 (correct me if i am wrong) edit the ONLY WAY of identifying a ITR head look for this green paint (near distributor)

your are correct. .

isnt type r head pr4? or sum'n.. i think we all know the GSR head is a p72

btw, i dont think that his cams look like GSR cams... judging from these 2 pix

his cam

the cam your showing

i have GSR cams right here... if my GF had her digi cam, i'd take pics, but to me they dont look the same but then i could be wrong . .

also the easiest way for you to identify your head is just look for the pr4 pr3 pr72 whatever it is . .

that will tell you what HEAD you have.. as far as cams go hey may have switched em out . .
