camshaft wont spin
putting my head back together and i torqued everything down to spec and now my camshaft wont spin, i took it apart like 4 times trying to figure it out... i replaced my camshaft seal btw... and the rocker arm assy/valves are out of the way...

are you trying to spin the camshaft by itself? maybe its hitting the piston.... you probably tried really hard to get it to spin huh? lol sucks to find this out after trying so hard.

that's what i was thinking, but when i tried to rotate it by the crank I was met with stiffffff resistance and didn't wanna force it over...

Honestly I'd say you should take off the head and have someone look at it for you. You already had your new Crower cam break on you (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2311853) and now you can't get another cam to spin. Obviously something is wrong and both problems are seemingly related.

while it would be a total pain in the *** to do it...im guessing you might have to get the engines camsfaft journals resurfaced. i chcked my motors cam ( d16z6, belt off, rocker assembly/distributor out of the way and it moved...took a little bit of *umph* but nothing im worried about.
and like civicspoon said if you broke a cam in your motor (im assuming your still using the same block/head) im sure it gave a little abuse to the engine before the busted camshaft was removed. just my .02

yeah you guys are right, I have a spare head in my garage that I could always swap in, but I'm gonna try to use the one existing one. And the other cam broke during installation and the car ran fine after I put in my stock cam, untill the other day when it just turned off.

the cylinder head assy is filled with brand new royal purple ( about 5 miles on it) and it was greased.
Im just hoping its not a valve or piston issue...

it looks/feels like a cam lobe is hitting part of the rocker arm assy/valve train components. i loosed all the adjusting nuts and theres no play on one set of valves... i hope its not bent... anyone know?

check your valve clearances...had a bent valve one time didn't know it, but was wondering why i couldn't adjust it, no matter how loose i made it, i even took the nut off...

When the cam broke (I didnt follow into it) did you have the head's cam recesses and caps line-honed? Or did you just try to put a new cam in, without having it checked?

i sure did not. i just tried to put in my stock camshaft, i had no idea i should have had it checked... the cam broke on the install and was never actually ran... does that make a diff.
i have no clue whats going on, im debating taking it to a mechanic or changing out my head (i have a spare z6 head in my garage)... what do u think i should do...

i ran my finger through the recess last night and I didnt feel any scoring or pits, and i went through with a magnet and pulled it out with nothing on it...

If you dont have the rockers installed, the belt is not attached, and the cam wont spin, you clearly have a problem.
You definitely should be able to spin a cam, if there is no load from the valvesprings.
I never read your other thread, just saw it mentioned.
If you have a spare z6 head, I would be using that immediately. Throw the cam in it, tq down the caps and see if it will spin.

no no no, WITH the rocker arms installed is when i can't get it to spin. Im wondering if THAT is normal... sorry for the mix up...

However, if youre still not being able to spin it with the crank, you have issues.
It may be a dumb question, but are you sure your timing isnt off? #1 is at TDC with the gear UP?

haha i have this thread being emailed to me when it gets a hit so it dings whenever someone replies. im sure i can spin it with the crank, i just dont want to force it and bend a valve... my t belt is off for right now and the crank is at #1 TDC and im aligning mt camshaft to #1TDC when i install it... thank you for your responses...

Its just me, but I would spin the crank so each piston was half way up/down the cylinders, just so I know nothing was going to hit and try to spin it again.
It being at TDC should avoid this...but, I like to try everything to be sure.
If it still wont spin, it may be time to pull the head, strap it sideways to a table, and see what the valves do....before disassembling it or swapping heads

fixed everything, but i did a compression test and #1 cyl failed. so im guessing a valve is bent.

im going to readjust them and do another compression test, I forgot to do it at WOT, my results starting at cyl#1 were 140-180-180-180
