Default camber kit Q: Do they really help?

My friend says that some people say they don't really help much, if anything at all. He says they're a waste of money. My camber on my car is horrible with only a 1.5 inch drop... I've gotten an alignment and it still is pretty bad so I bought a Skunk2 camber kit for my 98 Civic. My friend says all I need is an alignment to correct the toe. Now I know toe has alot to do with wearing out the insides of your tires, but what about camber? Am I just wasting my money on the camber kit if all I need to do is adjust toe to fix my problem?

IMO I would use the camber kit, I mean you allready have bought it. It will help with traction and it will keep your tires from wearing unevenly.

Your friends an idiot. Look at a civic that been lowered 2" without a camber kit and then look at one thats been lowered 2" that has a camber kit. You tell me if a camber kit works or not.

use the camber kit...you cant go wrong with it..if you have any kind of drop at all its safe to use. most ppl dont use it until they hit a bout a 2.0 inch drop, but diff cars, diff results...

the camber kit will even you out,...you wont tear up your tires..., better ride quality..etc

Yes, if toe is your only problem, there is no need for a camber kit. However, you said your camber is way off, even after an alignment, so you will need a camber kit if you want to adjust the camber.

How far off is your camber? It seems odd to me, because my 00 Civic was lowered about 1.5 maybe 2 inches and never really displayed any bad camber (I think it was 1.6 degrees or so).

Having the toe aligned to "0" will help! But, still rolling with tires like:

/ ---- \

will still cause uneven wear.

Your friend gets a from me

For the rear just use longer bolts and washers

toe usually does more damage then camber, but most people dont know that. if i had to pick one and i was on a budget, id go for tow first. if u can, go both. but remember, u can tune toe and camber to greatly help the handling of your car at the expense of tire wear. im willing to take that expense.

i have a 95 civic hatch with a 2" drop (H&R springs) my camber was BAD im talking like almost -3 degrees if not worse! I bought a eibach camber kit that adjusts up to 1.5degree and it helped ALOT! i would wear out tires in about 3 weeks and now my kumhos have been on the road for almost 2 months and i have not seen any wear! Use the camber kit but before you do throw it at your friend!

Yep camber kit definately helps. U can even feel it working. It feels different when u have more of a contact patch with the ground. It also handles differently in the turns. With camber its much better ofcourse. But now atleast u don't kill your tires. And a camber kit does seem to throw off your alignment. It did with my car. I got the Skunk2 camber kit, it made my car toe out. So you just have to adjust the toe back in. I don't know if that's the case for everyone. But a couple of my friends experienced the messed up alignment after as well, but it was fixable.

I ran -1.75 F and -1.5 R camber on my car for 13-15k on one set of tires and I had no camber wear. What is the secret. ZERO TOE.

im not going to get into this again, SEARCH!
