Cam seal question. Lube the new one up or not??
Just a quick question.
I know my old cam seal was leaking, so I picked up a new one and installed it. All I did was remove the valve cover, then the upper timing belt cover.
Then I removed the cam sprocket and pulled the old oil seal out. Then I lubed the new seal up with some fresh oil, and pushed it into place, then I put the cam gear back on, etc etc etc.
I started my car and when I turned it off I found a large puddle of oil under that side of the motor! ****!!
So it was a little leak before, now it's a much larger leak. Is there any trick to installing that cam seal? Or what? Just lube it up and push it in right? lol
This is a d16z6 by the way.

Yup. I made sure to get it all the way in.
I'm thinking if it's still leaking tomorrow I might pull the VC and the cam gear back off of there and check to make sure everything is cool.
